This is an update posting on G-therapy Progress for: Sophia Kate Smith
Diagnosis: Cerebral Palsy
Date Began Taking G: April 9, 2007
Sophia’s Date of Birth: April 22, 2002
Sophia’s Functional Status Before Taking G-Therapy: Before beginning G-Therapy Sophia’s primary mode of mobility was quadruped creeping inside the home. She could walk short distances using her walker with toes dragging the ground during the swing-through phase of gait. When not fatigued, Sophia could independently walk about 5 to 10 feet in the home between furniture with or without her AFO’s on. Sophia had poor balance/control and poor lower extremity placement whenever she attempted independent gait. She could get up from the floor but would normally choose to pull up using furniture or a person. She was very dependent upon human help for pulling up into a standing position. Her mobility was limited.

Current Improvements since beginning G-Therapy, as compared to video baseline: Sophia began taking G-therapy on April 9, 2007.

  1. As of September 2007, Sophia is enrolled in a regular 1st grade public school. She is learning to read and write and is doing well with her studies. Her academic performance levels are commensurate with her age level peers. She is doing extremely well in school.
  2. Sophia now walks with full independence without the use of her walker. She walks without an assistive device on indoor surfaces. (see current video of her walking skills)
  3. Overall lower body muscle spasticity (‘spastic muscle tone’) has decreased by 75% since beginning G in April 2007.
  4. Her walking balance has improved dramatically.
  5. She no longer drags her toes on the swing-through phase of gait.
  6. Heel strike has improved during gait.
  7. Sophia wears DAFO #2 afo’s. These fluid and dynamic braces fit extremely well as a result of the reduction in plantar spasticity. www.dafo.com
  8. Sophia does suit therapy with her mother several times a month and her muscle strength has significantly increased. http://www.suittherapy.com/
  9. Sophia takes 2 to 5 dives a month in her hyperbaric oxygen chamber. www.oxyhealth.com
  10. Sophia had eye surgery to correct strabismus on Dec 4, 2007 with Dr. Lawrence Tychsen of St. Louis Children’s Hospital. http://www.stlouischildrens.org/tabid/256/itemid/4336/Ophthalmology.aspx The eye surgery result with Dr. Tychsen has been excellent. Sophia is reading her 1st grade level books every week and she learns about 20 new sight words weekly without difficulty. She is dong much better with reading and writing since having the corrective eye “strabismus” surgery.
  11. On June 3rd, 2008, Sophia had the obturator nerve block procedure with Dr. Roy Nuzo of Summit, New Jersey. http://www.pediatric-orthopedics.com/Treatments/SDR_baclofen_OH/Alcohol/alcohol.html
  12. Dr. Nuzo also performed the PERCS (Selective Percutaneous Myofacial Lengthening) procedure on June 3rd 2008 which releases tight myofacial bands in the adductors, hamstrings, and heelcord musculature. http://www.pediatric-orthopedics.com/Treatments/Perc_Lengthening/perc_lengthening.html
  13. Since having the June 2008 PERCS procedure, the obturator nerve block and since starting back on G-therapy, Sophia’s walking, gait balance, coordination and control has significantly improved as evidenced by current YouTube Video with Sophia performing functional walking skills.

In summation, Megan and I are very pleased with Sophia’s progress while taking G-Therapy. While it has not been a complete cure, it has been an effective and beneficial part of her rehabilitation program. We use: G-therapy, a daily Shaklee Vitamin, daily Shaklee Calcium/Magnesium tablet, Shaklee Omega 3 oil, a Shaklee probiotic, and an organic whole foods diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, no synthetic foods, chemicals, or preservatives. Sophia is a healthy child and we cannot remember the last time she has taken a prescription medicine. We also utilize: Hyperbaric Oxygen (600 + treatments), suit therapy, Domans respiratory masking, overhead ladder walking, lots of sights words, daily reading in early grades phonics books, and lots of love and encouragement from everyone in her life.

We are very thankful to Dr. Oswal and for G-Therapy. We are pleased with Sophia’s progress and are thankful that G-Therapy is playing a pivotal role in her neurological and developmental progress. It is difficult to pinpoint which interventions are dong exactly what. However, we have seen tremendous progress with Sophia on G, and we want to do all we can to see her and others who are benefiting continue on the G-therapy homeopathic intervention.

My goal is work with Dr. Oswal on making G-therapy locally available in the US and other countries at a reasonable price, so that it can be made more widely distributed to children who could benefit.
