Subject: Fw: German Neurologist Dr. Garner's visit to Dr. Oswal's clinic in India - His Letter to Parent Support Group.

My name is Dr. Christoph Garner. Today I spent a whole day in Dr. Gunvant Oswald’s Clinic in Pune in India. I am a neurologist and I am working since 12 years as medical director in the KWA-Klinik Stift Rottal (www.kwa-klinik-stift-rottal.de) in Bad Griesbach in Bavaria. This hospital is spezialised on the treatment of young and old patients with diseases of the central nervous system like stroke, multiple sclerosis or children with cerebral palsy.

My interest to visit Dr. Oswald’s Clinic in Pune was the fact, that I heard of his dramatic results in the treatment of children with various neurologic disorders. I am very grateful to Dr. Oswal, that he spent the whole day with me to see many patients with various diseases who were recently set on g-therapy. In each case we looked at the video which was done at the begin of g-therapy, then we discussed the actual findings and the changes with the patient itself or its parents. I may now describe the current status and the process during g-therapy.

I saw a now 6 year old girl with dysmorphic syndrome (Rubinstein) which could only speek a few words at the beginning of g-therapy. She was bed-wetting and had to be fed (Parents report). After 6 month of g-therapy her expression of words is better, she uses more choices and starts trying to eat herself. The circles she is able to paint are more precise and the mimic and reaction is better (video).

A 31/2 year old boy, suffering from macrocephalus (without hydrocephalus) with retarded development, cerebral palsy and diplegia was set on g-therapy 11 month ago. The parents report the following: A few month after treatment he started speaking sentences and asking questions(before treatment uttering only a few words). He startet crawling 1!/2 month after start of treatment, now he starts sitting freely for 5 minutes and tries to walk holding the bed or with the help of hands. His mental condition improved markedly. He can say all his poems and part of the alphabet. His spasticity and sweating is reduced very much.

A 4 year old boy with mental retardation, hypotone muscles, and congenital cataract was set on g-therapy 8 month ago. The parents report a marked improvement of speaking capacity and motor control.. He now can speak sentences (before only a few words), he is able to walk with one hand support (before very slowly with 2 hand support ). Also toilet control improved markedly.

A 9 year old girl with Rubinstein Syndrome with mental deficit startet g-therapy 2 month ago. Within two month the parents report a reduction of restlessness and aggressiveness , She now tells when she must go to the toilet. The sentences are longer and the pronunciation is better. She today spontanously draw a temple with a wimple, before therapy drawings showed no object.

S., 4 years old with mental retardation because of mild hydrocephalus was set on g-thearapy 2 years ago. At that time she was hyperactive, crying excessively and slowly walking with 2 hands support. The parents report, that within one month speech improved (before no speaking at all), crying was reduced and walking became better. Today she stands and walks independently speaking is still reduced to one word sentences only. Crying has completely subsided.

S. is a case of Leukodystrophy with severe spasticity, dystonia and mental retardation. He is now 13 years old and startet g-therapy 3 month ago. No he can clap hands in the midline, the walking and understanding has improved. The spontaneous Babinski sign, which can be seen clearly on the video has completely subsided. He can stand and come to kneeing position alone.

Finally the last and in my eyes most impressive case. The now 12 year old girl fell 7 years ago and subsequently suffered with remitting pareses of all extremities. The MRI showed a marked stenosis at the cranial-cervical region with compression of the spinal cord. A neurosurgical operation in 2000 brhad no effect, in contrast the pareses inceased, so that at the beginning of g-therapy two month ago almost no active movement of the extremities was possible any more. Also free sitting was impossible. Mentally there was no deficit at any time. Today she can sit, she can grasp small items with her hand and lift them horizontally. Also the legs show active movements. Babinski sign and clonus at the ankles is still there.

As a summary I can say as a neurologist, that I am deeply impressed by the results of the g-therapy dr. Oswal has developed. In some cases remarkable improvements are occurring within only a few month of therapy. In other cases positive effects can be seen in chronic degenerative diseases (like e.g. Rubinsteins Syndrome) where improvements are theoretically very unikely to occur at all.
